Death is a part of life and always takes us away in mysterious ways. Sudden and irreversible - we can’t know when or how we'll leave this world. Death never asks for our permission to take us away from our loved ones. That's what makes death harder and more depressing. People are afraid of death and consider "Death" as a bad guy who always waits to take their souls to a strange and painful place. However, Jenny Jinya, a German artist, explored the possibilities of an afterlife and illustrated them all in her comics. For sure, the stories in the comics will make tears roll down your face.
Here, we summed up three comics by Jenny Jinya. One is about a black cat passing away a little sooner than expected. The second is about a dog following the call of the God of Death. And the other is about a good boy who also passed away unexpectedly.
In Western culture, black cats are associated with darkness, bad faith, and death. But, the artist wants to change that. She thinks the black cats are also adorable and warm. They shouldn't be shunned and abandoned only because of their color. There are many posters and infographics about abandoned or abused animals, but they're forgotten quickly. Through her artworks, Jenny tries to give a voice to the victims who have none in this world and helps them tell their own stories. "I hope I can raise awareness this way,” said Jenny Jinya. In addition, Jenny has found a way to present death - "I like to imagine Death to be a gentle and insightful being." she shared. The Death in her comics is just doing his job, so why do we hate him? In the end, the world needs someone to do that, right?
