Sound Of Silence: Here’s How Creative Homeowner Stops Neighbor’s Dog From Barking With His Own Sonic Device

We all love our canine companions like our own family, but the pooches really do enjoy “talking” all day long, at the highest volume possible, until they begin to drive you crazy.
Normally, we know what to do when it’s our own dog being vocal, but when the neighbor’s dog is the one barking, the options become severely limited.
If the neighbor is not available to talk to, and their dog doesn’t care to befriend you either, some residents take it upon themselves to stop the dogs from barking.
Owen Prescott, on the Reddit forum, had to deal with a new problem involving vocal canines after his neighbors made a new playground for their dogs when they go out.

The post made by Owen says “This puppy barks every five seconds for hours, directed at our house, until they return (fyi I work from home). They know their dog is doing this and think it's acceptable,”
“I'm now having to escalate the situation because I think they don't have the empathy to understand why their cute little puppy kept outside is a nuisance, when it's kept indoors the barking stops so it's not like they need to get rid of the puppy, just keep it indoors (or train it).”
While he contemplated buying an expensive device to deal with the barking, the Reddit user decided on buying large wind chimes: “These are cheap plus I can hang it from a tree directly where they have the dog and close to their house.”
“The obvious downside is that the sound will also effect other neighbors, however they've had enough of the dog barking too so maybe it's worth it for a couple weeks.”
The use of wind power to stop the dog from barking is well-received by other Redditors. User Annual-Vanilla-510 says: “I have an extremely large wind chime that i thrifted. My neighbors enjoy it like I do but it’s super loud. Go for it!”
Stretchman1970 says: “If the other neighbors have got the shits on with the NFH perhaps everyone should get wind chimes!”

Another user considers it a great solution as other conventional options like using a dog whistle can affect other people, Amaraame says:
“As someone who can hear dog whistles, please get the windchime. If someone like me lives near you and they can hear that anti-dog device then they will probably become your new neighbor from hell.”
But not everyone is on board with the “environmentally friendly” plan to stop the neighbor’s dog from barking. User Yejimi sarcastically replies:
“Become the alpha. Bark back. Eat meat in front of them, growl when they approach you. Make yourself big like a bear and pee on their fence. Sniff their butts. Become the master of the pack.”

Others are a lot more critical, who think that the original post was being whiny and nagging:
“It's a puppy, puppies bark. Quit being the NFH [neighbor from hell] and get over it.”
“Dogs should be outside. You Karens have got to quit crying about everything.”
User omglifeisnotokay suggests it is better to just talk to the neighbor if possible, instead of using another gadget that makes people just as irritated:
“As someone who had to ask the lady to take the windchimes down because it was causing me crippling anxiety and I couldn’t focus and could hear it in my bedroom and couldn’t relax or sleep, I’d talk with all your surrounding neighbors before putting them up.”
“I live next to a barking dog and it drives me insane. I told them to please train it and shut it up. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do.”
