Woman Cannot Persuade Husband About Food Given To Their Chickens Even When She Is A Vet

The woman has practiced as a veterinarian for just a short time. Not majoring in poultry and their food, but she still remembers the knowledge about poultry because she has just left the school recently. She lives with her husband who always tells people that his woman is the best vet in the surrounding area. 2 weeks ago, the woman and her husband bought 3 baby hens in order to produce eggs and be petted. The couple love the chickens that were developing well.
However, when the first chicken food bag was about to empty soon, the couple fought with each other on what to feed the hens next. The woman wanted to continue giving them grower feed before turning to layer feed when the hens started to lay eggs. Meanwhile, her husband said giving them just corn was would be enough, and they would not need any layer feed. He said his grandmother did feed hens previously, and she did not give them anything else besides corn. But the woman disagreed with this idea and consisted that the chicken would get unhealthy and the future eggs would be small if they just eat corn.

The husband retorted that the rest nutrients could come from the stuff the chickens pick around. However, the woman thought it was impossible because their space of land is too small and the time to collect free food is too short for their hens to get enough of the food they actually need.
On the other hand, the husband refused to pay a huge amount of money on chicken feed that might get over the cost of buying eggs in the market. But the woman more cared for her chicken’s health. The woman then said she was a vet and she knew better about what to feed chickens while the husband said she should not ignore his opinion just because he was not a vet.

The woman got mad at her husband and thought his grandma might have not just given her chickens corn, but he did not notice that because he was so small then! That’s why she came to ask the Reddit community, especially chicken experts about this matter. What should they feed their chickens next?
And Redditors seem to agree with the woman, assuming that corn is insufficient for the chicken and there should be other foods so that the chicken will grow healthy. Some even shared their own experience and they hardly see any poultry owners just give their animals corn.
