Dogs At The Malls Considered Attention-Seeking Attempts, Redditors Debate Whether Pets Should Be Allowed In Public Places

Nowadays, pets have become an essential part of the people who love animals or need some specific emotional backup. Instead of seeing these sweet creatures as pure animals, we consider them friends and family members. Pet services are popping up, from pet shops to pet-friendly eateries. It is common to see animals around every day everywhere. Little by little, everybody gets used to the appearance of pets in public places. Some people even find it inspiring and heart lighting.

Even though taking pets outside is trending and mostly accepted, some people just can reason with pet owners. A Redditor with the account name u/halfacan wrote on the hot subreddit r/unpopularopinion that he couldn't comprehend why people wanted to go shopping with their pets. If people have pets for emotional support, they should have had that support at home, not in public, because not everyone was happy with the animals.

The OP supposed that showing the pets around (except for the service dogs and horses) meant attention seeking and pet owners just wished to dangle around. Besides, he shared his impression of Germany in which he found no annoying pets at relaxing places such as bookstores, restaurants, cafeterias, et.

Reddit had a heated debate under the OP's post. They were taking two opposite sites: agree and disagree with him. The ones with the same opinion as the OP found it disturbing and inconvenient to shop with pets here and there, especially when they are not trained.

Not to mention people with allergies, the appearance of those four-leg creatures could cause many troubles for staff working at the stores. They had to keep an eye on the pets while the other eye was staring at their work. It was exhausting and annoying not only for the staff but for the clients as well.

On the other hand, lots of pet owners expected the OP to be ridiculous and overreacting. They brought their pets to the stores that gave them permission, thus they were not wrong at all. They pointed out various reasons to take the pets out with them. Above all, they were happy to do so. As long as it wasn't against the rules, they would continue to go shopping with their cute pals accompanied.
