Reddit Defends Woman Who Lets Parents Sleep On Sofa In The Living Room As The Spare Room Is For Her Pets

This is a story of a 37-year-old woman who is living with her 2 dogs and 2 cats in her house. She doesn’t have the intention to get married or have children though she is still dating. In the house, two suits are used for her bedroom and office while the rest spare room is for the pets. There is no more bedroom for others. The pet room is modified with essential stuff on the wall for cats, dogs, their beds, and toys, and there is a door leading to the backyard. She has a good job with a stable income, so she can raise the pets well, and it can be said they have a luxurious life.

Regarding the parents, she doesn’t get on well with them because they used to take too much control over her life, even after several years after she left their home to live on her own. She has been able to entirely decide everything in her own life for 7 years. The last time they visited her house is over 4 years ago when she hadn’t had the pets yet and there had been still a spare room ( now it is for the pets).
Unfortunately, her parents have recently lost their house because they are financed and delayed most installments. They called her last week, asking her to move in with her and stay in the spare room. Then, the woman suggested they could sleep on the mattress or sofa in the living room, which is the only space available in her house now and it is still large and comfortable enough for them. However, her parents were unpleased with that idea.

Her parents said she didn’t respect them when letting them sleep in the living room that should be the place for her pets instead. And like normal, they started to complain about her lifestyle and how crazy it is to have the pet room. In turn, the woman also got so angry that she refused to let them move in.
After that, her parents sent her a ton of annoying messages, complaining to her about the fact that they have to stay in a hotel or a shelter next week because she did not welcome them and the pets took precedence with her over them. The woman decided to block her parents.

The woman would like to hear more outside opinions about her situation and the decision to not let her parents move in. Here's how Reddit reacted to her post and gave her advice.
