Dog Protecting Owner From Roommate's Boyfriend Is Threatened To Put Down, His Owner Gets Sued For Defending Him

Dogs are said to be joyful, loyal, and protective. It's common to see dogs barking and acting aggressively toward suspecting strangers. There were also numerous cases of lawsuits on this topic. In some circumstances, it wasn't obvious to point the right from the wrong. Today we're going to discuss a case shared by a Reddit account u/OrdinaryCell8209 who asked for advice on the subreddit r/dogs when she was about to get involved in a lawsuit because of her dog. Let's read more about her context!

The OP had a five-year-old male rescue mutt who had been with her for two years. She went to college so she and her father leased an apartment. They let her friend move in and share the rent. The roommate sometimes complained about the dog and found it annoying but they managed to live in peace.

The incident happened when the OP heard her dog barking loud while she thought he was sleeping. She ran over and found a bizarre man standing in the kitchen. He was painfully holding his hand with her dog shuffling around. Right after that, her roommate informed the stranger to be her new boyfriend. The man refused to let the OP check his wound. Then the couple went to a hospital leaving her alone with anxiety, fury, and confusion. She had never seen her dog behave like that before.

After coming back from the hospital, the roommate's boyfriend contacted her father to pay his bill and have the dog euthanized. If not, he and his family would pull a suit against them for owning a vicious dog. Sadly, when the OP talked with her roommate, she just sided up with her new boyfriend.

The OP found her dog unguilty and so did Reddit. Many accounts commented on her post and advised her not to conciliate with that suspicious roommate's boyfriend. He had no reason to blame the dog since he was literally intruding on her place. The incident should be reported and investigated by competent agencies. Moreover, Reddit encouraged the OP to defend her dog because he was exactly doing what he was supposed to do.

Meanwhile, some people found the roommate and her new man untrustworthy. There might be no bites coming from the dog and all the complex was just a plan to get rid of the dog and make money from the OP. Even though she thought her friend wouldn't be smart enough to pull off such a petty act, it was the right time to evict that roommate.
