Man Throws Food Away When His Cat Doesn’t Do A Trick, And Reddit Sets Him Straight

On the popular subreddit “Am I The A—hole,” a man going by the username throwawaycat2938 asked Reddit users if he was wrong for throwing away his cat’s treat when he wouldn’t perform a trick. His girlfriend said she was “disturbed” by his “controlling behavior”. She said that “he is a cat why does it matter if he does the trick you want or not why would you waste the food”.

The man then explained the details of the story. He said that he and his cat used to have a routine before he gave it food. The cat had to stand and touch the can of wet food before he got it. But recently, he didn't like to do the trick anymore. He still wanted the food, but he refused to stand up and touch the can. Realizing that his pet was lazy and stubborn, the man decided "if he doesn’t do the trick he doesn’t get the food and I threw it away in the trash".

The man just wanted to train his cat, but his girlfriend didn't agree with his action and said he was assholish. He felt that she didn't understand him, so he decided to ask Reddit for advice. Sadly, nobody sided with him.

Everyone agreed that he was at fault and pointed out that cats aren't here for his Entertainment. Many advise him to get the cat checked by the vet to rule out any health issues. Maybe he has a medical problem that causes him pain when he stands up.
