Husband Lies To His Wife About The Death Of Her Crested Gecko, And Reddit Says It's Terrible

A husband took to Reddit’s confession forum to share how he lied to his wife about the death of her crested gecko. Due to his old age, the poor animal passed away. His wife didn't know as she was at work. The gecko is her pride and her joy. He is her emotional support animal. Therefore, he decided to lie to her because he was scared that she couldn't handle her pet dying. He said the pet ran away and went missing instead of saying that he passed away.

In order to cover his lies, he burried the animal and then left the tank slightly open. He told her he had no idea how the tank got opened and he couldn't find him anywhere. It has been two years and she still believes that her beloved friend went missing. She always talks about how she doesn't know how the tank got open and hopes he will return.
Hard no, Reddit quickly responded. They didn't agree with OP and called out him for his lies. Everyone advised him to tell his wife the truth. They said that a missing pet was far worse than a dead pet. She would worry about her pet for a long time. She needs to know the truth and has to deal with loss and grief. There's no value in her holding out hope for a return.
