Many movies illustrate the lives of characters from childhood to adulthood. Therefore, the casting directors often choose the cast who are able to keep a resemblance between each other. This, inevitably, enhance the authenticity of the movie and contribute to its success.
Some directors even invited actors’ younger or older siblings to play a role or some scenes in the movies. For example, Jamie Lynn, Britney Spear’s younger sister, portrayed Lucy in her youth in Crossroads or Elle Fanning played Dakota's younger version in I Am Sam.

“Practical Magic” is a 1998 American fantasy romantic comedy film based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman. The story portrays the lives of two witches, Sally and Gillian Owens. Raised by their aunts after their parent’s death, the sisters grew up in a household that was anything but normal, their aunts taught them the uses of practical magic. Sandra Bullock was cast as Sally Owens, a witch who became widowed after the Owens curse killed her husband and Camilla Belle was a young version of Sally Owens. Nicole Kidman played Gillian Owens, Sally's sister, who grew restless with her family's estrangement in their small town and became the victim of an abusive relationship.

“Titanic” is a 1997 American film about two young lovers aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic during their voyage in 1912. Rose DeWitt Bukater’s character was brought to the big screen by Kate Winslet. However, in the first scenes of the movie, an older Rose was embodied by Gloria Stuart. Despite the age gap, we can see the resemblance between them.
