In the United States, 237,868 people are assaulted or r*ped annually. Multiple well-known people have been included in this dismal number. Many have chosen to speak publicly about their ordeals to aid other r*pe victims in moving on with their lives.
Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is included among those who were r*ped before they became famous. The talk program host was s*xually assaulted by a family member when she was nine years old. Winfrey has been a vocal supporter of abuse survivors and has given many of them a voice on her talk program. Fiona Apple, Fran Drescher, Jane Fonda, Kelly McGillis, Tori Amos, and Gabrielle Union are just a few more well-known women who have been r*ped.
