Reddit Users Spark Debate: Owner Doesn't Allow Cat Into Library Without Explanation

When a Reddit user u/Cluckingup came across this silly sign, he posted it on r/cat, and it sparked a debate amongst Redditors. The sign reads: "Please do not let in the cat. His name is Max. Max is nice. His owner does not want Max in the Library. We do not want Max in the Library. Max wants to be in the Library. Please do not let Max into the Library."

The sign led everyone to ask why. They really want to know the story behind the creation of this sign. Why can't Max enter the library? And how does Max know to wait right by the sign outside of the Library?
Many people think that he might want to read some awesome books in the library or might find a place to take a nap. No matter what the reason is, they would let Max in. Who can resist his cute face?
There are many explanations here, but our interest has been piqued. Scroll down to read for yourself!

Thankfully, a Reddit user knew the story behind and shared it with everyone. "I remember reading the article. It is a large university library and they were seriously afraid of him being squashed in the stacks and also by him being accidentally locked in overnight."
Another person shared, "Quick correction, it’s Macalester College (a small liberal arts college) and the Librarians are allergic to cats. They have therapy dogs which are great, I just always wished we could’ve had therapy cats. Also Max moved away a couple years ago unfortunately though I believe is still on Instagram."
