The story follows Shrek, an "ugly" verdant ogre who lives in a swamp. However, the villainous Lord Farquaad abruptly exiles all the fairy-tale beings to Shrek's swamp. So, in order to reclaim his swamp, Shrek must embark on a mission to rescue Princess Fiona, along with a fast-talking donkey named Donkey.
