According to The Wrap, the famous actress will play the role of Victoria Kord, a brand new character created specifically for the film. She will almost certainly go to connect with the character of Ted Kord, the second hero to wear the Blue Beetle suit. Ted Kord is also the predecessor of Jaime Reyes, the Latin American boy protagonist of the film who is destined to take on the identity of the well-known superhero and become his third incarnation.

As we have reported in recent days, the first official concept art of the film clearly showed the existence of Kord Industries, thus confirming the thesis that a link between Victoria Kord and Ted Kord could be one of the fulcrums of the narrative. But Sharon Stone’s new character will not be the only villain in the story since Conrad Carapax, also known as Carapax the Indestructible Man, will be involved as well.

Blue Beetle will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto with a screenplay curated by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. The director, who is most known for directing the acclaimed Charm City Kings (2020), already expressed all his enthusiasm in being chosen to direct the first superhero movie ever that stars a Latin American protagonist.

“It is an honor to direct Blue Beetle, the first Latino superhero film for DC,” Soto told TheWrap. “I want to sincerely thank everyone at Warner Bros. and DC for trusting me to bring Jaime Reyes to life. I can’t wait to make history together.”

It will be Xolo Maridueña to lend the face to Jaime Reyes in this upcoming DC movie. In addition to Sharon Stone in the role of Victoria Kord, other confirmed names of the cast include Bruna Marquezine in the role of Penny, Belissa Escobedo in the role of Milagros Reyes, George Lopez in that of uncle Rudy, Adriana Barraza in that of Nana, Elpidia Carrillo in the role of Rocio, Damián Alcázar in the role of Alberto and Harvey Guillén in a role whose details are still kept under lock and key.

Blue Beetle‘s production is currently underway and no further details have been disclosed at the moment. The film is expected simultaneously on the big screen and on HBO Max on August 18, 2023.
