A Rock From Space Inscribed With Mysterious Hieroglyphics – Is It A Message From Mars?

In 1908, a marbled-shaped meteor, inscribed with strange hieroglyphics, roughly 10 inches in diameter, made it way through space and embedded itself under the ground of the Cowichan Valley in British Columbia.
In the summer of 1908, a mysterious event happened in the vicinity of the Cowichan Valley on Vancoucer Island, British Columbia, Canada. A boy was doing the gardening in the middle of the day when he suddenly spotted a meteor roughly 10 inches in diameter traveled through the Earth’s atmosphere and stuck itself in the ground only 8 ft. from his place. Fortunately, the boy wasn’t injured.

This isn’t the exact stone allegedly found in Cowichan Valley, but it resembles the object.
Quickly, the boy had his father observed the scene, and the father would be surprised to see the meteor was nearly round as a marble, while the hot surface was thoroughly scored with what appeared to be mysterious hieroglyphics. Later, the interesting story came on headlines, on a front-page newspaper article of Sept. 5, 1908, entitled, “A Message From Mars”.
Mr. Angus McKinnon, the father in the story, after having experienced the strange event, spent his entire life working on deciphering the unusual markings on the bizarre stone. Apparently, it never seemed to have been inspected in an appropriate method, as no research paper related has been published.
In the present day, its actual location is unknown and the ‘miracle stone of Cowichan’ remains an unexplained mystery that is untouched till to this date. This fascinating story was recently published at the Cowichan Valley Citizen in January 2015, by TW Patterson who has been writing about British Columbia’s history for 50 years.
