1. Food and Incidentals aren’t free (at least for the President)

No free meals for the first family means that they have to finance their own food, dry cleaning, toothpaste and other incidentals while in office, all of which are billed at the end of the month. Nancy Reagan once was taken aback when Mental Floss striked, as she said she and her husband weren’t informed in advance.
Although the expenses should never be a problem compared to the President’s salary, they can add up very fast. On the other hand, food served at White House state functions are not charged onto the President.

2. Rumours Are That Mice and Roaches Fill The West Wing

Numerous demand on servicing, renovation and facility improvement were believed to have been proposed by White House in 2017. However, according to the NBC Washington's News4 I-Team, the most notorious case was the request towards pest control to eliminate the mice invading the Situation Room and the Navy’s mess hall. The Team also revealed the presence of roaches.

3. No Private Entrance Or Exit To The Residence Exists

One of the disadvantages of living in a combination of a fortress, a resort and the museum is that the first family has no private entrance or exit, which is quite annoying.
Meanwhile, access to the Diplomatic Reception Room, close to where the entrance to the White House bedrooms is situated are granted to staff and tourists during regular operating hours, causing the first family to crouch behind brown screens to keep away from recognization.

4. First Pets’ Stains Left On Carpet Are Not Cleaned Instantly

It isn’t always the case that pet stains from the White House carpets would be instantly dealt with. It’s vague if pets from other department also left a mess behind or not, but it is confirmed that when the Obama family moved into the White House, the stains from Bushes’ cats remained.

The only White House prom so far was held in 1975 by first daughter Susan Ford at her 17, who partied with her classmates from Holton-Arms School and her 21-year-old college-age date in the East Room until 1 am.
What is surprising is that the class really covered the expenses for the prom by funds from bake sales and school fairs, making it wasn’t a splashy display of wealth in power, at least in some aspects.

Johnson had done, as he used to fall asleep on a massage table during his nightly rubdown. That means his usher had to wait until he woke up, allegedly after 5 am, to be officially off duty.

10. First Children Often Find It Simple To Sneak Up To The Rood

You would think the White House's roof would be off-limits, but plenty of rambunctious first kids have managed to sneak up there, Steve Ford was reported to have brought a friend up there to listen to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." Jenna Bush Hager said she managed to escape the mansion's "millions of ghosts" to sneak a first kiss with her now-husband.
