Stork Flies Thousands Of Miles Every Year To Meet His Soulmate

Klepetan and Malena are two storks from Croatia. They fell in love with each other and became inseparable. Although storks are not a species that mates for life, Klepetan’s loyalty to Malena proves that they can become lifelong soulmates.

It all started back in 1993 when Malena was hit by a hunter and got injured. Thankfully, Stjepan Vokin, a school teacher from Slavonsky Brod, fixed her wings and took care of her. He even built her a nest on his roof in a small Croatian village.

Malena's wing is broken so she isn't able to join Klepetan on the annual journey south in the fall. But that hasn't stopped Klepetan from putting in the extra work. For the last 20 years, Klepetan has flown 8,000 miles journey every spring only to meet her. No matter what happens, he always comes back to her.

The happy couple has raised more than 40 baby storks over the years, and they expand their adorable family each year. At the end of every August, Klepetan leads his babies to South Africa, during the winters. But with his incredible devotion, the couple has reunited on their rooftop nest every year.

The townspeople love the couple and their love story. They all wait for Klepetan to return each year. So far, the oldest live stork has been reported at 39 years old. However, they still hope this special relationship to live much longer.
