"Shazam 2" Lands Earlier Premiere Date Despite New Wave Of DCEU Delays

As reported by Variety, Warner Bros has changed the release dates of many of its upcoming blockbusters, including huge names from DC Comics. Accordingly, most of them have been delayed for several months, except only Shazam! Fury of the Gods - which will actually arrive sooner than expected.

This new wave of postponements is linked to some delays in the realization of the visual effects in post-production due to, needless to say, the global pandemic.
But first, let's find out in detail the list of postponed films. The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, both scheduled for 2022, have been postponed to 2023. The release date for Black Adam has also been pushed back three months, but the film will be released in 2022 anyway. Taking the original date of Black Adam will be the animated film DC League of Super-Pets, postponed by two months.

And, as mentioned above, amid other DCEU delays, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been brought forward from June 2023 to Christmas 2022.
Not just DC movies, this wave of postponements also involves other Warner productions as well. Let's take Wonka, the upcoming movie starring Timothée Chalamet for example. It was originally scheduled for March 17, 2023, but now the new release date will be December 15 of the same year.
Warner has also taken the opportunity to formalize the release date of Meg 2: The Trench (sequel to the 2018 film The Meg), which will hit theaters on August 4, 2023.
Below is the list of the upcoming DCEU films with new release dates:
- DC League of Super-Pets - July 29, 2022
- Black Adam - October 21, 2022
- Shazam! Fury of the Gods - December 12, 2022
- Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - March 17, 2023
- The Flash - June 23, 2023
