Barry Keoghan Breaks Silence On His Secret Role In "The Batman"
[Warning: This post contains spoilers for The Batman]
After a long silence, Barry Keoghan has finally talked about his character in The Batman, the new Matt Reeves film dedicated to the Dark Knight with Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.
As has long been discussed, Keoghan revealed himself not as Stanley Merkel, but as an early version of the Clown Prince of Crime. In fact, in the final moments of the movie, his character appears in a cell in Arkham as he talks to Paul Dano's Riddler.
"Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark especially and together were amazing to me – really, really amazing to me. And, you know, getting to be part of the Batman universe is a huge deal for me," the actor said. "I’m a fanboy of these movies, and especially the Batman universe. So be to be in that world, I’m still pinching myself."
Barry Keoghan is recently known for his outstanding performance in Eternals, and according to the actor, working with Matt Reeves is just as comfortable as working with Chloé Zhao on the set of the MCU movie.
"He’s a filmmaker I hugely admire as well. And to get to walk alongside him and see how he works, and seeing much like Chloé Zhao, how comfortable he makes you on set, and he gives you the time you need and what you want. I’m in such a blessed position," he added.
"I’m a huge, huge fan of Paul," he shared. "He’s such a good dude as well. I’ve watched all of his movies, like Prisoners and stuff like that. People say that we’re kind of like as well, and I’m like, are we?"
It is not yet known when Keoghan will return to the world of The Batman, but it has been revealed that the series on the Gotham City Police Department for HBO Max has apparently shifted to Arkham Asylum, which is precisely the last place we have seen both the Riddler and Joker.
The Batman is now in theaters.
