Experts have recently uncovered a giant human skeletion situated at the Black Sea Bay city of Bulgaria, named Varna, believed to have lived between the 4th and 5th centuries, whose stunning bone size astonished the scientists.

The prolonged bone size led the archaeologists to believe that its owner was an extraordinarily tall person, reported Chief Archaeologist Valeri Yotov, head of the excavation team.
They discovered the skeleton near the remnants of a prehistoric wall, suggesting that the man may have met his demise while working or during a ceremony hosted next to the city walls.
“His posture, with hands laid on his waist and his body pointing to the east (head) and west (feet) is a clear indication for archaeologists he was buried,” said Yotov.

Experts were conducting the reconstructions of the area in Varna, the 3rd largest city of Bulgaria, nicknamed “The Black Sea capital,” when they came across the tomb containing the skeletons during an excavation.
The true location has in fact been acknowledged since the early 20th century. However, at that time, the tomb was only explored temporarily before being shut down for constructing purpose, leading to modern discovery greatly intrigues the local archaeologists.
The object lying on Nezavisimost Square between the city theater and the State Archive was claimed to situate beyond the walls of Odesos, the ancient city sitting where Varna currently is.

This is not the first time that a giant skeleton has been discovered in Southeastern Europe, as archaeologists unearthed the skeletal remains of a giant warrior living in 1600 BC in Santa Mare, Romania in 2013.
Nicknamed ‘Goliath’, the warrior measured more than 2 meters in height, which is kind of mysterious for the time and place, when people were of small stature (approximately 1.5 meters on average).  The warrior was buried with an impressive dagger that indicated his high stature.
