Morbius will follow the adventures of the well-known vampire scientist, who initially ventured in search of a cure for the rare blood disease that afflicts him. The experimentation with bats and the cure developed by them soon transforms him into a sort of vampire with incredible powers, as you can read in the official synopsis of the movie below:
One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa with the screenplay written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane in 1971. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster are also involved as designated producers of the film.
In the cast, we will find Jared Leto in the title role, Tyrese Gibson, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Michael Keaton who will reprise the role of Adrian Toomes aka Vulture, a character he already played in Marvel Cinematic Universe. The inclusion of Vulture, in light of what is also shown in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, could open up some very interesting scenarios to understand how Morbius will be connected to the MCU.
Morbius will be the third film belonging to the newborn Sony cinematic universe of Marvel characters, now officially known as Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU). The movie will be in cinemas starting from April 1, 2022.
