Disney Plans To Introduce Residential Communities In California’s Coachella Valley

After 25 years of the development of the master-planned community project, Disney has decided to launch Storyliving by Disney, a new master-planned collaborative brand. Disney actors trained in the company's legendary customer service will lead community associations at each location, including some communities with residents over the age of 55. These communities are intended to motivate residents to make new friends, pursue their interests, and have a better quality of life. The first Disney stories were created in Rancho Mirage, California's Coachella Valley, where Walt Disney owned a home and spent his free time with his family. Additional US locations are being considered for future development. While Disney has always been involved in the vision and design of the city with planners and architects, this has nothing to do with the day-to-day functioning of the community.
“For nearly 100 years, Disney has shared stories that have touched the hearts and minds of people all around the world,” Josh D’Amaro, chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said in the release. “As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing new and exciting ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, expanding storytelling to Storyliving. We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest.”

In collaboration with developers and home builders, Disney Imagineers will play a key role in developing creative concepts for the community. "Disney Imagineers are exploring the richness of each local region to inspire the theme of Storyliving by Disney communities," said Michael Hundgen, executive producer of Walt Disney Imagineering. "Distinctively designed indoor and outdoor spaces will offer residents new opportunities to explore, engage and create the next incredible chapter of their story".
These developments will be distinct from the celebratory community of Florida. The Disney community's Storyliving project, Cotino, will be built in the heart of the Palm Springs area. Walt and Lillian Disney used to spend their vacations in the beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. The buildings and amenities of this Storyliving by Disney community will be inspired by the rich Valley culture's historical and contemporary influences. Cotino was created in collaboration with Development.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Disney in this groundbreaking new concept” Brent Herrington, the company’s CEO, said.

Cotino will welcome homeowners of all ages, with at least one section restricted for residents over the age of 55. The community is expected to encompass an approximately 24-hectare oasis of clear turquoise waters using Crystal Lagoon technology, which will enable sustainable construction of Crystal Lagoons of any size with low water consumption and minimal additive and energy consumption. Year-round access to the beachfront clubhouse, club-only beach area, and water recreation, as well as Disney programming, Entertainment, and events, is available as an optional club membership.
