The Stone Hill in the village of Novooleksandrivka

A burial mound dating back to 4,500 to 5,000-year-old has been discovered, according to the 5-channel television station. “In the middle of the tumulus (Kurgan in Ukraine), archaeologists found a gigantic cromlech – stone blocks several meters high that form a circle.”

Each block of stone weighs nearly 2000 lbs, meticulously sculpted into a circle, according to the journalistic report, and the whole place would be 500 years older than the pyramids of Egypt. Though not being the first dolmen found in Ukraine, Novooleksandrivka is the youngest, and more significantly, is probably the largest to have ever been excavated.
Oleksandr Kolomiytsev, the spokesman for the regional road service, told the press: “The construction involved moving a huge volume of earth and a considerable workforce. It is possible that the person buried and protected by the Cromlech was highly regarded in society. This is the only way to explain the monumental character of this construction.”

Truth is, all the dolmens found all over the world serve one purpose in their definition: funerary memorials, or, simply tombs. And the dolmen found in Novooleksandrivka is no exception, and has been designated to become an open-air museum. Ukrainians now have a reason to rejoice, as this ancient monument can captivate millions of tourists’ attention annually.

The secret of the British StoneHenge!

According to a study in Cambridge University’s Antiquity magazine, the British StoneHenge on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, Southern England wasn’t built where it is now. The circle monument was disassembled by Merlin and shipped to the Salisbury Plain with the help of 15,000 men. He wanted the Giant’s Dance for their magical and healing effects.

The inspection comes after the finding of a site in which large stones were unearthed, but no trace of these stones were found nearby, leading to archaeologists believing that the stones were brought to the current location.
Indeed, if the UK location is already a major tourist hit, Ukraine could attract many historic tourists too! Ukraine is a beautiful country that bears the historical mark of Chernobyl! But there are so many other things to discover there: Kiev, for example, is a jewel, too!
