In the depths of the Depression in the 1930s, a cartoon character named Mickey Mouse and his animated friends began to emerge from an unlikely source. This character was created by a young artist named Walt Disney from Los Angeles.
Born in Chicago, Walt Disney developed his early interest in drawing, then he took art classes and got a commercial illustrator at the age of 18. To develop his desire, along with partner Ub Iwerks, Disney had bounced around Hollywood and New York with some fits and starts. In 1928, they tried to create a new mouse character to take place of an earlier Disney rabbit named Oswald. It actually met with great success among the movie-going public.
