Until now, Kabelo the orphaned rhino and his caregiver Laura have been together for two years. He always plays with his caregiver and completely trusts her.

Laura Ellison was truly found her passion for rhinos when she worked in Taronga Western Plains Zoo. From then on, she decided to stick with that. Moving to South Africa and becoming a veterinary nurse at The Rhino Orphanage, her job is caring for the rhinos in the orphanage.

The Rhino Orphanage is a non-profit company based in the Limpopo Province and was founded by Arrie van Deventer in 2012. The Orphanage aims to take care of baby rhinos then release them back into the wild.

When the orphaned rhino was sent to the orphanage, Laura was in charge of taking care of him. She called him Kabelo. Kabelo lost his mom due to illegal animal hunting when he was very young. That’s Laura gives the poor animal very special care. She was always by his side for his first five days in the orphanage. She deeply understand how lonely Kabelo was. Kabelo seems to sense her love, he lay his trust in his human friend. Day by day, the bond between them gets much stronger. Laura finally realized, she not only has a mission to take care of rhinos, but she also has to raise her voice to protect rhinos and animals from illegal hunting.
