19 Real-Life Friendships Of Marvel Actors That Are Stronger Than Vibranium

It's often assumed that actors are more likely to be competitors than buddies. But this isn't always the case since celebrities are actual people who, like the rest of us, crave genuine friendship. Performers understand how valuable it is to have insider connections in Hollywood. These companions can assist each other win jobs, protect against gossip mags, and even fluff one other's red carpet gowns. We all like Marvel films for a variety of reasons, but it's a bonus when the interaction between two characters’ onscreen transfers to friendship off-screen.
We've seen some truly amazing, cute, and amusing friendships throughout the years, thanks to having so much Marvel stuff at our fingertips. Here are some Marvel movie actors that are as tight in reality as they are on screen. Do you know any other celebrities that have friendships that are as devoted and loving as these?

#1 Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson got along really well on the set of Thor: Ragnarok that they reunited for MIB: International. Fortunately, they both appear to be receptive to future partnerships. #2 Anthony Mackie and Sebastian

These two are living proof that opposites attract, whether they're mocking each other or demonstrating their genuine devotion and appreciation.

#3 Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr.

The real-life friendship of Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. resembles the connection between their two protagonists. Tom was even cast as one of the voices in RDJ's film Dolittle. Tom has admitted to "shamelessly stealing" RDJ's style. Is it fair to blame him?

Before shooting Eternals, Richard Madden and Gemma Chan had known each other for ten years, which they both feel allowed them to recreate the bond between their roles Ikarus and Sersi. They discussed the full circle event of shooting scenes outside of a bar in Camden where they'd all spent together years ago with their costar Kit Harington.

#6 Richard Madden and Kit Harington

While discussing Kit Harington, he and Richard have reportedly been pals for a long time after meeting on the HBO series Game of Thrones. During the Eternals launch, Richard very adorably stopped Kit's interview on the red carpet FOR A HUG.

#7 Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany portray the MCU's most passionate pair, yet they also share a deep friendship. Elizabeth has heard Paul recount the tale of how he believed he was being dismissed from the MCU a million times, and if that isn't the measure of loyal friendship, we don't know what is.

#8 Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr.

Jon Favreau couldn't fathom Iron Man without Robert Downey Jr., so he persuaded Marvel execs to cast him, and they are "presidents of each other's fan clubs," according to Favreau."To see somebody that has talent and to see somebody that has potential — and it just takes a moment sometimes to show other people, but it really makes you happy when now the world understands the things that I saw in him and that he saw in me too," Jon said to Forbes. Jon directed the first two Iron-Man films and has played Happy Hogan for almost a decade. RDJ has helped Jon with a number of his more personal, non-MCU productions, and they're "close enough to be like brothers," according to RDJ.

#9 Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans

Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans have been buddies and coworkers for a long time — already before their MCU cooperation — and Scarlett herself has stated that she understands Chris "too well." She mentioned this just before he terrified her on The Ellen Show. Scarlett was so excited to see Chris for a Variety "Actors on Actors" discussion that she let out a "shriek of joy" when she saw him.

#10 Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke

Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke collaborated on Black Panther, but they've been pals since their days at Yale School of Drama. Lupita offered Winston a trip to the school before he was even admitted. They then rejoined to play a married couple in Jordan Peele's Us, where their tight friendship aided their on-screen connection. "We're in each other's lives beyond the screen, so getting to set together was very organic," Lupita said while promoting the movie. "I trust him as a friend and as an artist, so we could be dangerous with each other and messy and experimental."

#11 Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp

Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp became such close friends while producing X-Men: Apocalypse that they chose to live together. Alexandra was also a bridesmaid at Sophie & Joe Jonas' wedding.

#12 Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans

be kept separate throughout media appearances because they were having too much fun and "weren't getting s— done." They've both mentioned their brotherly relationship in various interviews, and you can see for yourself that they couldn't stop giggling during the Age of Ultron media tour. Chris Evans expressed optimism in 2019 that they might be able to star in an '80s-style buddy movie to shed their superhero alter roles.

#13 Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart

Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart met decades before playing longtime opponents Magneto and Professor X in the X-Men films, but they grew close over the four films they produced together. They've also performed in several productions together throughout the years. Sir Ian even officiated Sir Patrick and Sunny Ozell's wedding in 2013! They've all been knighted, by the way.

#14 James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender

Onset, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, who played younger versions of Xavier and Erik, became great pals and were open about their feelings. According to one report, they were dubbed "the new Stewart and McKellen." #15 James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain

James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain have previously collaborated before reuniting for Dark Phoenix, in which Jessica portrayed Vuk. In the three-part movie The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, they portrayed husband and wife. Jessica lauded James for advocating for gender pay equality before it was "the cool thing to do." Chapter 2 was their sixth film together, and Jessica teased James on Twitter about chasing her from film to film. James remarked playfully, "She's really difficult to work with. I'm probably the only guy in the industry willing to do it."

Gwyneth Paltrow described Robert Downey, Jr. as "an incredible, lifelong, inspirational partner and friend" after starring Pepper Potts in 7 MCU films. RDJ even mocked Gwyneth about the very perfumed candles she was promoting, but she joked him back. It happens towards the very end of their voting PSA, and I have to admit, we believe Gwyneth won this round.

#17 Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston

Onscreen, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston portrayed siblings, but their real-life connection doesn't appear to be as stormy as Thor and Loki's. Thor and Loki don't appear to be joining the screen anytime soon, but they're still alive in the MCU! There is still hope for a "Hiddlesworth" reunion. Chris will next be seen in Thor: Love and Thunder, and Tom will return for Loki Season 2.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland shared several sequences in Avengers: Infinity War and Spider-Man: No Way Home, but their connection showed most when they were teamed for the Infinity War publicity tour. Benedict was entrusted with preventing Tom from leaking any spoilers, a task he took extremely seriously. They recently met together to talk about Benedict's movie The Power of the Dog, which Tom described as tough to watch since Benedict portrayed such an unpleasant role. "For the first time in knowing you, I really, like, hated you. I thought you were horrible and so, just, grotesque and awful," Tom said. “No one could have done that better.”

#19 Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds

Lastly, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds co-starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and their "public feud" is well-known. It's even made its way into the Deadpool movies when Ryan (as Wade) remarks on how attractive and Australian Hugh Jackman is. True friends keep you grounded by teasing you whenever possible, and these guys have been at it for almost ten years.
