Black Adam Easter Egg Discovered In Peacemaker Show

The most recent episode of Peacemaker, James Gunn's HBO Max show set inside the DC Extended Universe, has a subtle nod to Jaume Collet-upcoming Serra's DCEU picture Black Adam, which is slated to hit theaters this summer.
nullA police officer is shown reading a newspaper in the fourth episode of Peacemaker, "The Choad Less Traveled." As one observant member on the r/DC Cinematic subreddit noted out, one of the front-page headlines mentions both "Intergang" and the "nation of Kahndaq."
nullIntergang is a criminal organization equipped with technology provided by the New Gods of Apokolips in the classic DC comic books. Back in July 2021, Sarah Shahi, who plays Adrianna Tomaz, alias Isis in Black Adam, announced that Intergang will have a role in the future movie. Meanwhile, Kahndaq is a fictitious kingdom on the Sinai Peninsula that is controlled and guarded by Black Adam himself.
nullEven if their different central characters never meet on-screen, it seems logical that Peacemaker, of all projects, would include a reference to the impending Black Adam picture. After all, John Cena plays Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, whereas Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays Teth-Adam/Black Adam. Both actors began their careers as WWE wrestlers, with Johnson being one of the greatest performers of the Attitude Era before Cena defined the Ruthless Aggression Era. The two defining superstars even squared off in a pair of main-event WrestleMania contests in 2012 and 2013.
nullPeacemaker is a prequel to Gunn's 2021 DCEU picture The Suicide Squad, with Cena reprising his part as the chauvinistic anti-hero who was shot in the neck by Bloodsport (Idris Elba), but still managed to escape before the Grim Reaper counted to 3. The first 3 episodes of the series debuted on HBO Max on Thursday, January 13. Episode 4 was released on January 20th. Peacemaker Season 1 will consist of eight episodes and will finish on February 17.
nullMeanwhile, Black Adam, a spinoff of the 2019 DCEU blockbuster Shazam! starring Zachary Levi will be released in cinemas on Friday, July 29. It continues the story of Johnson's Black Adam, the errant warrior of the wizard Shazam. Along with Intergang, Black Adam will introduce the Justice Society of America to the DCEU. Furthermore, Jennifer Holland, who starred in The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, is said to be repeating her part as Emilia Harcourt in Black Adam. In other news, Shazam! is getting a direct sequel in the shape of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which will be released on June 2, 2023. Peacemaker's first 4 episodes are now available on HBO Max, with fresh episodes premiering on Thursdays. Meanwhile, Black Adam is set to hit cinemas on July 29th.
