5 Surprising Celebrities Who Hate Tom Cruise And Refuse To Work With Him

Tom Cruise is admired by fans and celebrities alike for his good looks, acting skills, and dedication to doing his own stunts. He is best recognized for his work in legendary film franchises like "Mission Impossible" and "Top Gun." Zac Efron, Dakota Fanning, and David Beckham, among others, have frequently voiced their adoration for the actor.
Even though Tom Cruise is highly renowned for his excellent acting talents, he’s also known for the numerous scandals he has been involved in over the years. Surprisingly, this also involves chuckling when he relates a story about restricting a passenger's oxygen during a flight. Many famous people have flat-out refused to collaborate with Cruise or be linked with his films for similar reasons, and the list goes far beyond his ex-girlfriends.
Naturally, the Mission: Impossible actor's religious convictions hurt his standing with other celebrities, including Scientologists. Since his ex-wife Mimi Rogers introduced him to Scientology in the early 1990s, Cruise has been affiliated with the church. He has given numerous ambiguous statements about his beliefs, even calling psychiatry "pseudoscience" in a conversation with Matt Lauer.
Read on to find out the 5 famous people who flat-out refuse to work with Tom Cruise.

#1 Mark Wahlberg

Even though Mark Wahlberg isn't a particularly well-known star himself, it appears that he has no time for Cruise. The two stars have never collaborated before, and it doesn't seem like they ever will because of remarks Cruise made in 2013 that deeply angered Wahlberg. According to reports from that year, Cruise had been saying that the work he was doing on a new movie was as tough as "fighting in Afghanistan"
Later that year, Wahlberg responded to Cruise's remark (again, omitting the other actor's name entirely).
"For actors to sit there and talk about 'Oh I went to SEAL training,' and I slept on the... I don't give a f**k what you did," he said, according to TMZ. "You don't do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as somebody in the military. How f**king dare you? While you sit in a makeup chair for two hours."
Soon after, Cruise's attorney informed People that the actor had been clearly joking.
"Tom is a staunch supporter of our troops," the statement read.

#2 John Travolta

Despite the fact that they are both ardent Scientologists, there have long been rumors that John Travolta and Tom Cruise are not particularly close. When Brendan Tighe, a former church member, revealed to New Idea that Travolta was crazedly envious of Cruise in 2018, the claims were substantiated. The cause is? The article claims that Cruise had a more senior position inside the Church of Scientology and that he was one of the few members of the sect who had direct access to David Miscavige, the leader of the organization.
"Cruise is the only celeb with a direct line to Miscavige," Tighe said. "Travolta didn't have that. Travolta doesn't get anything for free, no one is giving him absurd gifts like an airplane hangar, custom-made bikes, or over-the-top favors."
Tighe added: "It's no secret that Cruise and Travolta despised each other."

#3 Brad Pitt

Get comfortable because this relationship is a whole disaster. It is hardly surprising that Cruise and fellow actor Brad Pitt hang out together, but there has reportedly been conflicting between them for many years. When they co-starred in Interview with the Vampire in 1994, their antagonism already existed. There were rumors circulating at the time that Pitt detested Cruise. According to reports, the World War Z actor claimed that Cruise "bugged him" him.
"He bugged me. There came a point during filming when I started really resenting him. He's North Pole, I'm South," he reportedly said, as per Radar Online.
"He's always coming at you with a handshake, whereas I may bump into you. There was this underlying competition that got in the way of any real conversation."
It seems the two never reconciled, and it seems Pitt has no intention of getting along with the Oblivion star.

#4 Brooke Shields

Actress Brooke Shields said in 2005 that she needed medicines to treat postpartum depression. Cruise disagreed for whatever reason, telling Access Hollywood in 2005: "When someone says [medication] has helped them, it is to cope, it didn't cure anything. There is no science. There is nothing that can cure them whatsoever."
"Irresponsible," the Top Gun star commented about Shields, adding: "I care about Brooke Shields because I think she is an incredibly talented woman, (but) look at where has her career gone."
Shields, as you can expect, wasn't too pleased with his remarks, and later that year, he told People, "Tom should stick to saving the world from aliens and let women who are experiencing postpartum depression decide what treatment options are best for them." Her remarks made clear reference to the Church of Scientology's purported acceptance of aliens.
It has been 17 years since Cruise made those remarks, and it appears that another picture will never be created. The two have only appeared in one film together (Endless Love, 1981).

#5 Russell Crowe

Given how widely known Cruise and Nicole Kidman's divorce was, it's not surprising that their famous pals felt pressured to support one of the parties. According to reports, Russell Crowe preferred Nicole Kidman to the Top Gun star. Despite some difficulties, the two were able to collaborate on the 2017 version of The Mummy. According to rumors around the time of filming, Crowe could not tolerate his co-star.
According to a source close to the A-lister, Cruise hasn't been in Crowe's good graces in more than ten years.
"He hasn't been able to stand Tom for years," the insider explained. "Russell is a loyal guy and never forgave Tom for the way he treated Nicole... If they'd stayed friends, he would've felt he was betraying Nic, so he froze Tom out of his life."
It's interesting to note that Crowe and Kidman have been friends since they were 'regular' Australians. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2018, it was revealed that the two hit it off after he showed up at one of her parties. Kidman recalled meeting Russell at her boyfriend's home in Darlinghurst, a Sydney suburb, and that he later attended a party to which we had invited, roughly, 500 people.
"And I attempted to cook paella. And I didn’t cook the rice, so it was crunchy. Not good. Throw it out, bring out the beer."
