They Need HELP! 80 Horses In Spain Were Left To Survive Alone Without Food And Water

Local reports have been mentioning a sighting of 80 horses in a field near Albacete, Spain, where they were left without any food or water. They desperately need our help to survive.

The horses were first spotted by locals on November 25, and their existence soon became known to officers. Since then, staff at the Easy Horse Care Rescue Center (EHCRC) has visited the animals twice, but no official governmental decision has been made to rescue them.
The latest pictures and updates show the horses' bad condition with their ribs visible on their sides. Nursing mother horses are no longer able to produce milk for their babies, and ponies can hardly stand on their feet after a long time of suffering malnourishment.

Concerned locals are afraid that these family horses are coming close to the end of their lives. Although the local Good Samaritans have brought them some bales of hays, long-term support is still a desperate solution that the authority should carry out.
"This used to happen often in our area," Koren Helbig, volunteer media manager with EHCRC, shared. "Police would receive official reports of abuse and neglect, would agree that the case warranted action, but would be unwilling/unable to act as there was simply nowhere to place such a big animal after a legal seizure."

EHCRC is a non-profit organization that aims to save neglected and abused horses and donkeys. Since it was founded in 2008, it has successfully raised people's awareness about the plight of abandoned horses. The 80 horses being abandoned, however, is believed to result from recent financial crises in the area. Owners can't afford to raise their animals, and the government can't provide needed sources either.
EHCRC hopes to do something helpful for the horses. They offered to care for two of them although the number of animals in the shelter has already reached 99. The owners, on the other hand, refused the offer despite how starving the horses might seem to be.

"It's crazy that everybody knows these animals are starving but nobody can do anything because there's nowhere to put them, nowhere for these animals to be rescued to," EHCRC wrote. "We feel so frustrated. If we had the money and the facilities, we would be there in a heartbeat ... But we need help. We need funding. We need space."
