The Rock Confirmed A Fight Between Black Adam vs Superman In DCEU Is Inevitable, And It Is Coming

Dwayne Johnson expects Black Adam and Superman to eventually make contact in the DC Extended Universe. The San Andreas star graced the cover of Total Film magazine's most recent issue, and as a result, he's been pretty outspoken about his coming DCEU anti-hero flick Black Adam. Johnson stated to the media how enthusiastic he is about delivering Black Adam to the theater and the character's final showdown with Superman.
nullJohnson also agrees that the company has made some mistakes with how they treated certain figures, which has upset viewers. But, as a veteran comic book reader, Johnson learned from his mistakes and avoided deviating too far from Black Adam's narrative.
null"You get one shot out of the gates to build these characters properly. We paid attention to some of the pitfalls that other films had experienced in the past, in the world of DC, and what, rightfully, got a lot of fans unhappy and pissed – and, as a fan, I was one of them. So, let’s make sure we respect tradition and mythology, but let’s not be handcuffed creatively. We can do anything if we keep the audience first."
nullDwayne Johnson and the creators of Black Adam have stated that the next movie would respect the character's violent background. The movie's producer, Hiram Garcia, reportedly indicated that Black Adam will test the limits of its PG-13 rating and feature a high body count. Both Garcia and The Rock have indicated their interest in a potential Black Adam vs. Superman showdown, something viewers have been clamoring for a long time. Johnson now confirms that Black Adam and Superman will clash one day.
null"So to me, there’s a battle that’s going to go down one day, between Black Adam and Superman. I don’t know who Superman is going to be, and I don’t know who’s going to play him. That’s OK. I don’t need to know right now. But I’m confident in knowing that [laughs]. And that’s based on what fans want. We worked backward from there."
nullHowever, Dwayne Johnson, like everyone else, is unaware of Henry Cavill's future as Superman. There are now two Superman films in the works, both of which are looking for African-American actors to play the Man of Steel. Michael B. Jordan is working on a Val-Zod miniseries for HBO Max. J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates are developing a Superman film set in the early 20th century, with a race-swapped Clark Kent/Kal-EL. Both films are believed to take place in separate universes. So the issue is, does Superman exist in the primary DCEU chronology at all? If he does, then who will portray him? Despite his commitments to The Witcher and numerous other high-profile productions, Henry Cavill is eager to reprise his role as Superman. He's only waiting for a call from the company.
nullIf it's any comfort, the DCEU will feature a confrontation between Superman and Black Adam. Perhaps, Henry Cavill will play Superman. The renowned anti-hero Black Adam will make his live-action premiere in the namesake movie, played by the enthusiastic Dwayne Johnson. Black Adam is helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan also appear in the movie. Black Adam is set to be released on July 29, 2022.
