Loki episode 5, "Journey to Mystery," was one of the most creative for the streaming show, introducing numerous variations of the god of mischief. While Grant's Classic Loki and Jack Veal's Kid Loki garnered a lot of attention for their character design and personality, particularly the latter having slain his variant of Thor, Alligator Loki drew the most of attention. Though the episode speculated that he was only an alligator disguised as a god of mischief, people bonded with the figure, with some writing appealing soundtracks for Alligator Loki and others making their own comics and films with backstories for the reptile variant.

Alligator Loki wasn't the only significant attraction from Loki episode 5, with the development of the End of Time Void and the final confrontation between different variations and the cloud-like creature known as Alioth stirring reactions as Classic Loki sacrificed himself to save Hiddleston's protagonist and Di Martino's Sylvie. It would also keep spectators interested moving into the season finale, which brought Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains to the MCU in order to build up to the entrance of Kang the Conqueror soon.
