New Details On Harry Styles' Eros In "Eternals", Revealed By Director Chloé Zhao

Directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, Eternals, which preceded the blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home, introduced to Marvel fans and the board audience the Eternals - a group of alien characters led by Ajak (Salma Hayek) who have protected humanity from the dangerous race of Deviants for 7,000 years. The new MCU film was released in theaters in November last year and will soon also arrive on Disney+. If you are interested, the DVD and Blu Ray home video versions of the movie have also recently been dated, complete with special editions.
In a recent interview with Empire, Eternals director Chloé Zhao has returned to talk about the surprise cameo at the end of the film, where Harry Styles enters the MCU as Eros.

More specifically, in one of the two post-credit scenes, Thena (Angelina Jolie) and the other Eternals who left for extraterrestrial planets meet Eros (Harry Styles) - Royal Prince of Titan and, as revealed by the character who accompanies him, Pip the Troll (Patton Oswalt), brother of the galactic dictator Thanos.
Styles' cameo as Eros will obviously not be the singer's only appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Chloé Zhao today has explained the background to his existence within the narrative universe of the House of Ideas.
The director doesn't know Marvel Studios' plans for Eros' future, and we also don't know if Chloé Zhao will be back behind the camera in the eventual Eternals sequel. However, she's convinced that Thanos' brother has become a space outlaw at the side of Pip, who ran away with him.

"For me, the backstory of Eros is that he deserted, he said, "I'm not doing this anymore." So he somehow got that sphere, which you saw in his hand, and he ran off and made Pip the troll. They're like Han Solo and Chewie. Arishem's been looking for him, and he's just been a space outlaw. That's the character I had in my mind. But I never said once to Kevin, "Here's the character. Let's find an actor." For me, it was a package deal. It's got to be Harry. That's how I pitched it to Kevin," the director explained.
However, there is more.
According to the planned backstory for Eros, the character was originally stationed on Titan along with ten other Eternals, just like Ajak's group on Earth.
It would mean that at some point the planet Titan (which we saw in Avengers: Infinity War), was supposed to be a host planet for the birth of a Celestial at some point, something the director took note to point out. With this in mind, Zhao came up with two important questions: "Now, if you think about that, what influence could Eros have had on the inhabitants of Titan, the way Ajak has influenced people on Earth? And how that has affected Thanos?"
Since Zhao already has some remarkable details about Eros in mind, we can imagine that the Nomadland director will also be involved in the development of the Eternals in the future. Maybe she will return to work for Marvel Studios on Eternals 2, if such a project is officially confirmed of course.
