Playing games, creating art or sharing information on decentralized social networks are becoming the new careers of young people.

Taking a break from work since July when the epidemic broke out, Huy Tuan, 25, Vietnam, plays the game Axie Infinity as a full-time job. "Initially, I worked as a ‘ploughman’ for some groups, earning about $500 per month. After having capital and experience, I parted ways with them and formed my own team," Tuan said.
He is one of millions of people around the world looking to overcome the challenge of the pandemic by playing games for money (Play to Earn). According to the Financial Times, Covid-19 has pushed many people into prolonged unemployment. Many people in the Philippines and other countries look to Axie Infinity as a serious business. “I will stick with this blockchain game even if I find a new job,” Vincent Gallarte, who lives in the Philippines, told the Financial Times.
After Axie Infinity, a series of other blockchain games around the world appeared and attracted users.
Economics professor Stephen McKeon of the University of Oregon commented on Medium: "Economies around blockchain are beginning to shape the future of work for humanity. By combining learning, playing, interacting, creating with ownership and income generation, blockchain in general and the crypto market in particular are shaping up many things far beyond the traditional concept of work.”

In addition to making money from playing, blockchain also shapes the Learn to Earn & Participate to Earn model. Instead of using social networks like Facebook and TikTok, users look to decentralized social networks to create content and receive tokens as rewards. More and more young people see this as a long-term job because they can take the initiative in their time, independent on the company, and still have a stable income.
Another job that requires more creativity is "Create to Earn". Users can create NFT artwork and music playlists through companies like Audius and sell them on art auctions at home and abroad. In July, young artist Xeo Chu successfully auctioned the painting "The Lucky Apricot Blossoms" with NFT code at the converted price of nearly $23,000 USD
Cuong Lee, an artist who has worked for many years at international studios such as Marvel and Dota2, said: "Blockchain is creating many new professions for the young generation. Some people can play, draw, create and make money at the same time. Many blockchain games even give players the freedom to adapt and build their characters. If the character is great and well received by the community, they can sell it and get a commission from in-game deals and auctions".
However, the risk for those who want to make money from blockchain games is that most games require players to initially spend a large amount of money to buy pets and items. Whether the payback is fast or slow depends not only on the skill of the player, but also greatly influenced by the erratic rise and fall of the cryptocurrency market.
