Facebook Voted The ‘Worst Company’ In 2021

As usual every year, Yahoo Finance has just announced the "Company of the Year" ranking list, through their activities and achievements in the market. In the list, Microsoft was selected as "Company of the Year", while in the opposite direction, Meta (formerly Facebook) was awarded the title of "worst company of 2021". This company received 50% more votes than the second place, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.

Participants said they were unhappy with Facebook regarding censorship issues, privacy issues, and Instagram's impact on users' mental health. In 2021, former Facebook employee Frances Haugen, who disclosed many internal company operating documents, said Facebook had ignored policies that harmed the public in order to put its own interests first.
At the end of October this year, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook would change the company's name to Meta. After the restructuring, Meta will become the parent company, while Facebook and its previous services such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus... will become subsidiaries under the authority. The name change is part of an effort to move the company away from its current shadow of a social media company, embodying Mark Zuckerberg's ambition to build a metaverse.
