After years of struggling to make ends meet, Schultz almost gave up on his passion after a frank conversation with his father-in-law. He told Schultz, "It's time that you give up this [coffee] hobby and get a job." Howard actually bursted into tears and felt extremely embarrassed after finishing that conversation.
Fortunately, however, after talking with his wife, Sheri Schultz, then pregnant and the sole breadwinner of the family, he completely changed his mind. Sheri Schultz told Howard: “We're going to follow these dreams that you have. We're going to see this through,” And now, after all, Schultz and his beloved wife have truly made those dreams come true. Schultz told his son: "And here we are."

The former Starbucks CEO, now a billionaire, also continued to affirm his support that successful parents should step back and allow their children to follow their dreams. Howard told Jordan: “I felt very strongly that I had seen too many kids of successful parents go into their respective business, and I thought the pressure on you or [your sister] would have been too great to work at Starbucks. We'll help you in some way if you need it, but you should follow your own dreams, your own passions, and it's worked out beautifully."
Finally, Howard ended the conversation with an important piece of advice for his son: “Don’t be a bystander, be involved, be engaged, be curious, make a difference.”
Howard Schultz was born on July 19, 1953. When he was a child, his family was poor, so the boy always dreamed of having a "Wishful Crystal Ball" to become rich. But the dream is still just a dream and he returns to the real life of a poor family. Therefore, he worked hard to help his family and studied hard. His efforts paid off when his first wish to pass the entrance exam to the University of Michigan came true. After graduating from college, he managed to find a job on his own. In 1975, Howard Schultz applied to work at Xerox.
After 7 years, Schultz is just a lowly employee, his future was not bright. Incidentally in 1982, Schultz joined Starbucks, the owner fell in love with this agile, lively young man and immediately appointed him Head of Marketing and Retail. Fate brought him to this company, and since then, Schultz's life has turned to a new turning point, and Starbucks' career has since been transformed.

Since Schultz came to work, the small coffee shop gradually developed into a coffee bean business as well as opened more coffee shops for customers to enjoy. In late 1982, when Schultz was 28 years old, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Now Starbucks has become the world's leading coffee group with 17,009 stores spread across 55 countries and territories around the world – of which 11,000 are in the US, 1,000 in Canada and 150 in Turkey with more than 25,000 employees. In 1999, Starbucks dominated the Chinese market and changed the preferences of the people of "Chinese tea": from drinking tea to drinking Starbucks coffee. Currently, China has become Starbucks' largest overseas market.
