Artist Turns Cabinet Cards Into Iconic Characters Of Pop Culture

Alex Gross is certainly not the only artist who enjoys creating colorful fanart of his favorite movies, but not many ones love to do it on old portraits like him, that's for sure. This special kind of material makes his artworks a bit old-fashioned, but truly appealing and unique.
Gross often collects antique cabinet cards from the Victorian Era and then turns them into lovely pictures of famous characters from our modern pop culture, using oil and acrylic solely. It’s not hard to realize he is mostly inspired by the Batman franchise and its iconic heroes/villains, but he also includes other familiar faces in his collection as well, for example the mighty Marvel superheroes or the funny members of the Simpson family. All of them look really winsome and a little vintage in his art.
Just scroll down and take a look at these 40 amusing transformations, they are guaranteed to brighten up your day and put a smile on your face!
