As a tradition of their family, Lola and her granddaughter made Christmas lanterns together every year. And the image of Mickey Mouse as a presence for Lola's childhood is seen throughout the storyline.

The granddaughter grew up eventually developed disinterest in the family tradition of crafting lanterns.
