Scammers are much like shapeshifters. They can fake their personal information, pretend to be one of your co-workers or relatives, then ask you to do them a favor. Some people confirm that someone tried to scam them, claiming to be their parents or siblings. But this is not the smartest move because people can easily check it with their family. So what about pretending to be the CEO of your company? That could work, perhaps.
This person got scammed by someone who claimed to be his CEO. And the scammer did it well, had every necessary element of an actual boss. The employee was demanded to buy "the boss" some gift cards.
