Disney Will Releases "Black Widow," "Cruella," And Other Movies At The Same Time In Theaters And On Disney+

Surely, everyone is no stranger to Disney+, a movie streaming platform founded by The Walt Disney Company in 2019. Up to now, Disney+ has only uploaded previously released movies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and so on. But just a little while ago, Disney announced pretty shocking news about this platform!
Disney just confirmed that its films Black Widow, Cruella, and others will be debuted in theaters and on its streaming service Disney+ simultaneously. Cruella will premiere on May 28th, followed by Black Widow on July 9th. Those who want to see them on TV will have to pay an extra cost, which is likely to be around $30. Mulan, Raya, and Last Dragon were used to test this strategy and the results were pretty impressive. Even Pixar has joined the party, as their film Luca will premiere on Disney+ on June 18.

#1 Only been released for a short time, Disney+ has already made a name for itself on movie streaming platforms

This streaming platform, although only launched nearly 3 years ago, has become a fierce competitor of Netflix and HBO Max. For $8 a month or $80 a year, you'll be able to sign up for an account on Disney+ but if you want to upgrade to a premium account, you'll have to pay an extra $30! I know, Disney really knows how to make money!

However, Disney's simultaneous release also complicates their relationship with the theaters. Because it can be watched right on Disney+, audiences will also be less likely to go to theaters to watch movies. This will greatly affect the revenue of the theater as well as the actors, as ticket sales make up the majority of their income.

#3 For all Marvel fans, the movie Black Widow is always a hot topic

This move by Disney resulted in contentious litigation between them and Scarlett Johansson, the star of the film Black Widow. Despite the fact that the matter was settled, it made the world aware of the actors' feelings regarding Disney's daring decision. Many individuals still believe Disney can reconsider its choice and come up with a better option. For example, Warner Bros. announced in December that all of its 2021 films would be released simultaneously in cinemas and online, and theaters were not pleased. In the end, a contract was struck for 2022, with Warner Bros. receiving a 45-day theatrical window before beginning to stream their films.
