We Love Animals

Zookeeper Shares Behind-The-Scenes Photos Of Running His Own Zoo, Which Is So Interesting To Watch

Since the Covid-19 Pandemic started in 2019, it has changed the lives of almost everyone. The social distancing has forced many activities to be canceled, and we can’t travel freely to everywhere as we used to. But today, let us take you on a trip, online, to an interesting wildlife park!

The park is founded by zookeeper Chad, who has long been loving wild animals. Recently, he has updated the progress of building up his zoo on Instagram, and it’s clear that he was born for the job. The photos not only show what he’s doing every day as the zoo director, but they introduce you to the animals you never meet.

So, if you are excited, scroll down for Chad’s pictures!

Telling Bored Panda, Chad described his long journey to be finally happy with his current job: “My career started as a casual zookeeper, then full-time for 5 years, moved into zoo education after that for 3 years, then curating species and collections from that and now I’ve been the director of one zoo for 6 years and the second for about 12 months.”

For over one decade working within this career, Chad has been successful with two collections, one of which is Featherdale – about Australian animals in Sydney. The other is Mogo, the collection of the world’s endangered species.

Despite his heavy workload, the middle-aged man never loses interest in what he does. To him, working with animals is pure happiness. “There is no typical day when you work with animals, my whole day, week, month, year, life is making sure they have everything they need.”

In 2019, Mogo Wildlife Park suffered severe damage caused by the  Australian bushfire. Thankfully, Chad and his team were able to protect the zoo and its animal citizens. Chad even kept some animals like red pandas and small monkeys in his home!

“The smaller animals we caught and took inside. The larger, dangerous animals – big cats, gorillas – we put them into their night houses so we could protect them there.”

“I believe zoos and wildlife parks are the most amazing places where animals and people have real opportunities to interact and make connections and I’m so thankful to be part of that,” he added.
