If you already watched the heartwarming story of Giorgio the feral kitten who went the extra mile to become the happiest cat on Earth, you may recognize this charming girl. Meet Frankie, Giorgio’s best pal on the streets who also made it to the good life!
Unlike Sonny and Sal who were little kittens or Giorgio who was a bit bigger but still a kitten, Frankie was already an adult cat when Flatbush Cats volunteers spotted her in the colony (they even believed that Frankie came from the same litter as Mila – Sonny, Sal and Giorgio’s mother). However, Frankie wasn’t extremely friendly toward humans like Mila. She was quite shy instead. So, after getting Franking spayed, Will released her back outside.
“She hasn’t made her mind up yet about coming inside,” said Flatbush Cats’ founder Will Zweigart.
After finishing their TNR project, Will kept coming back to the colony every day, not only to feed the cats but also to check up on them and make sure every feline there was spayed or neutered. And as he showed up more frequently, Frankie also gradually became more open in front of this kind man.
“It’s hard to describe exactly why I thought Frankie might be different even though she preferred to stay just out of reach, orbiting me like a furry moon,” he said. “I just had a feeling that she wanted to come closer. She just needed to overcome her fear.”
Will assumed that the cause might come from a bad experience in Frankie’s past, but it no longer mattered though. The only thing that mattered was whether she was willing to try once more time.
So, Will brought Frankie home, and her response was way better than he expected. She showed her belly within several minutes of being indoors, which meant she totally felt safe and comfortable there.
When Frankie finally became a purrfectly healthy and happy as a house cat under the care of this amazing rescuer, Will found her a loving forever home where she was introduced to her new big brother – a handsome orange tabby. They got along pretty well, and it’s safe to say our little Frankie was well on her way to living a spectacular life!
