Why does a child resemble their parents or grandparents? Genes, or something more profound than that? Scientifically, a person's appearance depends on the gene versions each parent carries. Some of them get passed down depending on the copies of chromosomes that a child gets from each parent.
Is there anything else you haven't thought of? Reincarnation is a more spiritual theory that holds that once a person is dead biologically, their soul or spirit continues to exist in a new body. Children who behave extremely adult-likely and speak about former lifetimes or recollect memories of loved ones they couldn't have known.
