8 Actors Who Involved In Adult Entertainment Before Booming

While adult Entertainment and traditional Hollywood exist, they have always existed on separate tracks. Occasionally, you'll get someone like Ron Jeremy or Sasha Grey who manages to leap into mainstream acting, but they probably won't be a household name even then. Although it is extremely unusual, a select few people have successfully made the leap from a profession in adult entertainment to one in the mainstream. These ten famous people are among the chosen few. These actors who used to be in the adult entertainment industry might surprise you. 

1. Larry Hankin

An early role for him was in the pornographic film China de Sade (1977) in a non-segg role. Linda Wong stars as a Chinese spy who gets involved with a group of sadists in this film directed by adult cinema veteran Charles Webb. For his part, Hankin plays an agent in the film (credited under the name Lance Hunt). There isn't much information about the movie, so it's unclear how he got cast. He's not the only future A-lister to play a non-segg part in a classic adult film.

He was a young man with responsibilities before he thought about a show business career. When he was only eighteen years old, he was already struggling to pay rent as a busboy while also helping to raise his girlfriend's child. His adult industry-experienced girlfriend arranged a couple of shoots for him. He was credited as Sebastian in several adult films, all featuring him masturbating alone (a name bestowed upon him by the director).

3. Sibel Kekilli

Although she had a pornographic past like many others, Sibel Kekilli had long since moved on. She was only an active adult film actress for around six months between 2001 and 2002 until a casting director in a shopping mall spotted her. She was eventually chosen to star in the German drama film Head-On because of this.
Unfortunately, her parents cut off communication with her once she was outed for her past due to the publicity surrounding the film. Thankfully, she had already established herself as a successful actress with several previous parts before getting cast in Game of Thrones.

4. Wes Craven

In numerous films he directed, he used aliases and even played straight characters. According to the International Adult Feature Database, he made his film debut in It Happened In Hollywood (1972). (the same year as his film debut).
In the years between his debut and his follow-up, The Hills Have Eyes, and he directed two more adult pictures, including one in 1975 under the pseudonym Abe Snake. The fact that prominent pornographic director and actor Fred J. has been spotted in public suggests that he has some connection to the adult entertainment industry.

5. Shel Silverstein

His cartoons previously graced the pages of Playboy. Rather than being a one-off contributor, he quickly rose to prominence as a cartoonist for the publication in 1957. Their series is dubbed "Shel Silverstein Visits," and they sent him worldwide to report on what he saw. The cartoons were meant for children, yet they dealt with serious issues. Even more surprising is that these books included illustrations of Silverstein partaking in NSFW behaviors like orgies in the bathtub and bargaining with segg workers.

6. Cameron Diaz

Photographer John Rutter contacted the woman in 2003 and asked for $3.5 million to keep the images from being made public. She decided to take him to court rather than give in to his blackmail. Despite her best efforts, they were published on a Russian website under the headline "She's No Angel" (a play on her fame from Charlie's Angels). Rutter was found guilty of attempted grand theft, forgery, and perjury and given a sentence of more than three years in prison, despite his protestations of innocence in the newspaper.

7. Jackie Chan

In 1975, Jackie Chan was still working as an unnamed stuntman and extra in Hong Kong films. So, he was forced to take the lead in the seg comedy All in the Family shot in Hong Kong. Although the film is, at most, a softcore thriller, Chan considers it to be sensual. This film is notable for having one of his few sensually explicit moments and casting him in a far more daring role than he would later become known for.
As luck would have it, Chan's breakthrough film, Drunken Master, would be released in 1978, and the rest, as they say, is history.

8. Sylvester Stallone

Stallone has come a long way from his humble beginnings as the star of a softcore picture to his current status as the only actor to star in a number-one box office film in each of the last five decades. He also played a minor role in an erotic off-Broadway play called Score as a telephone repairman, but he was not cast in the film adaptation in 1974.
