Players Who Scored In 6 Consecutive World Cup Matches, No One Named Ronaldo!

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is an event that will go down in history. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the game-winning goal from the penalty spot in Portugal’s 3-2 victory over Ghana in Group H, making him the first player in the history of the FIFA World Cup to score in five different tournaments.

Olivier Giroud scored twice for France on November 23 against Australia in a Group D match that France won 4-1, tying the record for most goals scored in a single game for the French national team. Similarly, each of these four players has scored at least one goal in their nation’s most recent six matches at the FIFA World Cup.

The renowned Italian striker Paolo Rossi scored six goals and was named the tournament’s most valuable player after leading Italy to victory at the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Along with Garrincha in 1962 and Mario Kempes in 1978, Rossi is one of three players to win all three honors at a World Cup.

In 1982, he won the World Cup in Spain and the Ballon d’Or for his incredible performance. Their extraordinary run of performances for their country at the World Cup was never repeated. He passed away in 2020, but not before entering the Italian Hall of Fame.

To the Russian Federation, Oleg Salenko was a true hero at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States. He single-handedly broke the World Cup record for most goals scored in a game when he netted five of his team’s six in a 6-1 thumping of Cameroon.

Oleg Salenko tied for most goals scored with Hristo Stoichkov of Bulgaria, each of whom had seven. Surprisingly, he only appeared in three contests before Russia was eliminated in the group stage. In addition, he is the only player in football history to win the Golden Boot at the Under-20 and the Senior World Cups.

Eusebio, born in Mozambique, was dubbed “Black Panther” and “The King” and is widely considered the best player to ever play on the Iberian Peninsula. He is revered as a football legend at Benfica and in his native Portugal. He was a right-footed striker with a reputation for speed and technique who scored a staggering 733 goals throughout 745 career matches.

In six games at the 1966 World Cup, he scored nine goals to lead all scorers. Despite scoring a penalty in the semi-finals against England, his Portugal team ultimately lost the tournament. Pictures of a distraught Eusebio after the loss have cemented the game’s reputation in Portugal as the Jogo das Lágrimas (Game of Tears). At the very end, with his guidance, they come in third, Portugal’s highest-ever placement.
