Strange World Review: Should I Watch Strange World?

In “Strange World,” the world may be super-weird, but those who populate it are some of the most realistic and well-rounded that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ever presented. Ergo, it’s the characters as much as the environment that makes this vibrant, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”-style adventure movie colorful and diverse in all the best ways. Great as the people and places they explore may be, however, the relatively unimaginative story consigns this gorgeous toon to second-tier status — a notch below director Don Hall’s earlier “Big Hero 6” — instead of cracking the pantheon of Disney classics.
 

1. Strange World and the Acceptance Lesson

Strange World teaches acceptance lessons. Ethan's love for another boy is encouraged by Searcher and Meridian. This relationship is portrayed in the movie as normal and admirable. When Ethan declines to be what Searcher desires, friction results. This is a reflection of Searcher's rebellion against his father. The grandfather, son, and grandson all have to accept their uniqueness. Treasured offspring must be allowed to choose their own path.
The damaging effects of humanity on the environment are a crucial additional factor. Pando, a representation of fossil fuels, advances Avalonian society but at a cost. The searcher learns that his greatest accomplishment—a workable long-term energy strategy—is not. Callisto experiences fallout from this. She won't let Avalonia fall behind. She needs to be persuaded that Pando is not the savior they originally believed it to be.

2. Strange World has impressive CGI Animation

Strange World receives high marks for its impressive CGI animation. The unusual terrain, plants, and animals all appear to be incredible. Ethan befriends Splat, a blue-colored, oddly shaped creature. They don't understand Splat's gurgling, but its help leads to a major revelation.

3. The film contains both humorous and dramatic moments.

The squabbles between Jaeger, Searcher, and Ethan grow tiresome, especially when it's clear they'll come to terms. Strange World will almost certainly be panned by conservative audiences who do not share its values. It goes straight to the heart of a cultural conflict. Interracial marriage, homosexuality, and disabilities should not be considered a problem. Strange World strikes me as a moderately entertaining children's film. However, keep in mind that it expresses opinions that others may find controversial.
