Unsolved Mysteries Host Son Killed
On July 27, 1981, Adam Walsh went missing while shopping at a Hollywood, Florida, a mall with his mother, Reve Walsh. The excursion took place in Florida. After some time, his body was discovered dead. While Reve did errands in another part of the store, she momentarily left her son, who was six years old at the time, in the toy department of a Sears store to observe a group of older boys playing video games. The older guys were in the toy department.
Adam could not be seen when she returned to check on him less than ten minutes later. It is quite likely that Adam Walsh was kidnapped outside of the mall. After learning more about the incident, investigators discovered that a teenage security guard had told the guys to leave the mall after some of the older lads were causing trouble.
Adam is thought to have been too frightened to speak up and explain that his mother was in the store. Therefore, it is presumed that he exited the store with the other guys, who subsequently scattered to different locations.  It is believed that he was taken from the shopping center's parking lot and held captive there. On August 10, 1981, the head of Adam was cut and found.
After a large search for the small kid, two fishermen found Adam's severed head in a drainage canal near Vero Beach, Florida, about 100 miles from Hollywood. Vero Beach is located in the state of Florida. His body was never located after he died. Asphyxiation was determined to be the reason for Adam's passing by an attending medical examiner. Based on the condition of the remains, it appeared that Adam had been dead for a few days before his head was found.

Ottis Ellwood Toole Was Responsible For Adam Walsh's Death

In October 1983, Toole admitted that he kidnapped Adam and then murdered him. At the time, he was incarcerated at a facility in Raiford, Florida, and he was doing time for two separate murders he had committed. Also, here is updated information about the AZIZ Unsolved Mysteries case.
Henry Lee Lucas, Toole's close buddy and fellow serial killer, was also named a suspect. Toole asserted that he was present at hundreds of murders committed by Lucas. On the other hand, Lucas served time in a Virginia prison when Adam was taken, so he could not have been involved.
The investigation led the police to conclude that Toole had kidnapped Adam from the mall parking lot to drive him back to his residence in Jacksonville. They suspect that Adam was hit after the child started to freak out, which knocked him unconscious before the assailant strangled him with a seatbelt and beheaded him with a machete.

Toole further stated that upon his return to Jacksonville, he had burned the body by placing it in an old refrigerator and setting it on fire. The loss of important evidence hampered the investigation into the murder of Adam Walsh. It took the police several weeks following Toole's confession before they admitted that they had misplaced the bloodstained carpet from Toole's car, the machete they believed was used, and, eventually, the automobile. They were also unsuccessful in their search for Adam's body, making it impossible to prosecute Toole without any tangible evidence.
Toole spent the remainder of his life alternately confessing and denying his role in Adam's death. He did this on multiple occasions. It was determined that his confessions could not be trusted since he and Lucas frequently made fictitious confessions concerning murders. Nevertheless, John Walsh has expressed his conviction that Toole was responsible for the murder of his son, and multiple witnesses have located him in the Hollywood area on the day in question.
