Beyoncé's New Album Was Criticized For Looking Offensive

Beyoncé's upcoming album Renaissance. Ahead of the release, the musician posted a message about the record on her website. “This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic,” Beyoncé explained. “A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative.” She also wrote, “I intended to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking.”

Beyoncé's "Renaissance" album rode in on its horse to the second-best first-week sales of the year. In terms of 2022 album releases, it trails just Harry Styles' newest. According to Luminate Data, the debut figure for "Renaissance" was 332,000 equivalent album units, as published by Billboard on Sunday – the best first week for a female artist this year.
"Renaissance" fell short of eclipsing Styles' "Harry's House" as the year's top-debuting album; Styles' collection debuted with 521,000 units in June. Beyoncé's effort, however, outperformed all other 2022 candidates to date, the most notable of which were BTS' "Proof," which launched with 314,000 units and now falls to the third position, and Kendrick Lamar's "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers," which debuted with 295,000.
