6 Stars Who Don't Have Slots In Brazil Squad

The Brazilian team for the 2022 World Cup has just been confirmed. After waiting for two decades, they appear quite menacing as they seek to recover their former reign and bring home the prize. Severe injury problems have hit several squads. However, the Brazil squad is one of the few that hasn't had to deal with a serious injury concern. Their team has a great mix of young blood and seasoned veterans. Their assault features stars like Neymar, Vinicius, and Rodryo, making them a strong contender to win.
However, there have been a few unfortunate players who, for whatever reason, never quite made it. There are just too many talented athletes in Brazil to pick from. Tite had a tough task in cutting some major stars from the team. For the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Brazil will send a 26-man team. Here, we summarize the outstanding players who were left off that list.

6. Gabriel Magalhaes

It's tough to accept Gabriel Magalhaes's exclusion after proving himself to be one of Europe's top defenders this season. His absence from the Brazil squad in recent games is also noteworthy. And was cut from Brazil's final World Cup team of 26 players.
Magalhaes has been instrumental to Arsenal's success this season with his stellar play and keen understanding of the game. The defensive star of Arsenal has yet to make his debut for Brazil, a reflection of the strength of competition he faces from the likes of Eder Militao, Marquinhos, etc.

5. Andreas Pereira

Another midfielder who didn't cut the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was Pereira. The Brazilian midfielder's importance to Fulham this season cannot be overstated. They had a lot of success with him as a playmaker on the field. This year, Pereira contributed to 14 games and scored 2 goals with 4 assists. The former Manchester United player has only played in one game for Brazil's national team.

4. Renan Lodi

The 20-21 LaLiga champion has been left out of the major competition again. Due to his recent slump in performance, Lodi will not be traveling to Qatar. The fullback for Brazil has appeared in 16 games for his country. Lodi has struggled to rediscover his form this season and was loaned to Nottingham Forest from Atletico Madrid earlier in the year.

3. Matheus Cunha

It was widely anticipated that Cunha would not be selected for the FIFA World Cup squad after his underwhelming season with Atletico Madrid thus far. He hasn't scored in 16 games this season for the Spanish Giant, and he's only had two assists.
He has played eight times for the national team, the most recent coming in September of 2022 against Ghana. The Atletico Madrid star will have to wait longer to represent Brazil in the major tournament after making all of his previous appearances in qualifying matches and friendlies.

2. Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho was integral to Brazil's team when he first arrived on the scene. His career has reached a new low after being cut from the 26-man roster. The Brazilian forward has scored 21 goals in 68 games for his national team, and he played a significant role in the team's success at the 2018 World Cup.

1. Roberto Firmino

Bobby Firmino's absence from this list is the most surprising omission. In his last 12 games with Liverpool, Firmino has scored six goals and dished out three assists to regain his form. Firmino's 17 goals in 55 games for Brazil are impressive and just part of his overall club statistics. At long last, the Brazilian was a part of the squad competing at the Copa America, where his presence in the attacking third could have made a huge difference.
