'Carolina' Taylor Swift is written entirely by her and produced by frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner. The song has a haunted vibe as she sings about secretly several locales without being noticed, which is similar to the narrative of the film. This is all the meaning of the song 'Carolina' Taylor Swift.
"Into the mist, into the clouds / No, you didn't see me here," croons Swift on the downtempo soundtrack cut. "They'll make a fest, I'll make it count / Carolina knows."

Taylor Swift has frequently written songs from the perspective of wholly imaginary characters since the release of 2020's Folklore, focusing her confessional-style lens on lyrics about other people rather than herself.
Now, she’s released a haunting balled titled “Carolina,” written from the point of view of the main character in the upcoming adaptation of Where The Crawdads Sing. The character, Kya, is played by Daisy Edgar Jones, and like in the 2018 Delia Owens novel the film is based on, is abandoned before learning to survive on her own in the unwelcoming North Carolina marshlands.

She learns to fend for herself by refusing to attend school and instead studying nature and receiving reading lessons from a local boy who becomes her first love. Kya's intimate knowledge of the environment in which she grew up has helped her become a best-selling author of nature almanacs.
While Kya keeps to herself most of the time, she falls for the town's golden boy. But their relationship takes a nasty turn when she is suspected of murdering him and goes on trial for his death.

2. On Friday morning (June 24th), Swift took to Twitter to explain about 'Carolina'

“About a year & half ago I wrote a song about the story of a girl who always lived on the outside, looking in. Figuratively & literally. The juxtaposition of her loneliness & independence. Her curiosity & fear all tangled up. Her persisting gentleness & the world’s betrayal of it,” she wrote.

Swift went on to add that she created the song alone in the middle of the night before collaborating with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner to "meticulously work on a sound that we felt would be real to the moment when this story takes place."
The lyrics of the song personify North Carolina itself, sung about as if the place were a close lover or friend.
“Oh, Carolina creeks running through my veins / Lost I was born, lonesome I came / Lonesome I’ll always stay / Carolina knows why, for years, I roam / Free as these birds, light as whispers / Carolina knows.”
